It was a tricky decision to turn Freestuff off. Freestuff was established and worked ok, helping people find new homes for unwanted items.
However, checking the site every morning I notice the long list of necessary improvements and new features that I don't have the time or energy to build. So, rather than let the site stagnate, I have decided to turn it off for now.
I still believe in the concept of Freestuff. Giving away unneeded items is good for the environment and good for the community. Freestuff may be reborn at some stage. It will take someone with more time and enthusiasim than I have at the moment.
Compared with when we started Freestuff, there are now many options for people to give away unwanted items, including Facebook Marketplace, Neighbourly, and various local community groups.
